3 DAY ZAGORA DESERT TOUR

Go on a 3-day tour to visit Zagora and the first library of the desert.

Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate

Early departure from Marrakech towards the High Atlas and the Tichka pass (2260 m) towards Ait Ben Haddou . Visit the Kasbah which dates from the 11th century and classified as a UNESCO world heritage site in 1980. Have lunch there before continuing the road towards the city of Ouarzazate . Arrival there, you will visit the cinematography studio and the famous Kasbah of Taourirt, this was in the 19th century, the largest residence of the powerful Pasha of Marrakech . Dinner and overnight in a hotel

Day 2: Ouarzazate – Agdez – Zagora

Enjoy a good traditional breakfast at your hotel before taking the road to the village of Agdez. You will pass through several small Berber villages with collective family houses and whose architecture is typical to the region. Lunch in one of the village’s Kasbahs before continuing along the Deraa valley (the longest river in Morocco ) where the landscape is a real Oasis uninterrupted and narrow to reach Zagora . Enjoy a camel ride to see the splendid sunset over the Zagora desert. Evening, dinner followed by local music around fire in thw camp  under the stars.

Day 3: Zagora – Tamgroute – Marrakech

Start your day with a little camel ride to watch the sunrise over the dunes of Zagora . Enjoy a good lunch in the desert before returning by camels to the city.
You will join your vehicles and continue through the old road of Timbuktu to reach Tamgroute . Once there, visit the great religious center of the Zaouïa Sidi Naceri (first and old library of the desert), the oldest preserved works of which date from the 11th century. This city is mainly known for housing artisanal pottery workshops, especially in green enamel.

Return to Marrakech crossing the palm grove of Derâa and the mountains of the Atlas .
